About this application service
The partner route lets you sponsor your spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner to live with you in the UK. The application requires careful evidence of your relationship and finances. Our advisers prepare the full bundle so nothing is missed.
Who it's for
British citizens and settled people sponsoring a partner from overseas, and couples already in the UK applying to extend their partner visa and progress along the five-year settlement pathway.
What's involved
A relationship and financial evidence review against the current income threshold, preparation of the supporting statement and documents, application submission, and guidance on the extension and settlement pathway that follows.
The settlement pathway
The partner route is a five-year route to settlement. We map out each stage — first grant, extension, then ILR — so you know what evidence to keep and what to prepare at each step.

Frequently asked questions
What is the financial requirement for a spouse visa?
The sponsor generally needs to meet a minimum annual income threshold. The exact amount and the evidence accepted have changed over time, so we review the current requirement against your specific circumstances.
What evidence do I need to show our relationship is genuine?
A combination of documents — marriage or civil partnership certificate, shared finances, correspondence, photographs and communication history. We help you assemble the strongest bundle.
Can my partner work in the UK?
Yes. Partners on the spouse visa have unrestricted right to work in the UK. We can explain the conditions that attach to the grant.
